Social Media Profile Photos – Oakley

I recently ran a series of Headshot photoshoot sessions taking photos primarily for Business/Corporate and Social Media Profile Photos…. I particularly enjoyed the photoshoot with Oakley… she was bubbly and natural and we took loads of great photos that captured her personality well…  Below are a few of my favourites :

If you’d like to schedule a photoshoot for new Social Media Profile Photos for yourself …or would like to organise a fun photo session with a few of your friends… please give Andy a call on 0403 023 223, or Contact Us.

Corporate Headshots – Special Event

I recently organised a couple of special Corporate Headshot Sessions, which I promoted to my Brisbane Business Club Meetup members.  Over a couple of mornings , we had a dozen or so members book in for special one hour studio sessions.

These sessions were a great success… everyone seemed to have fun, and walked away with a USB with 100+ Headshots to choose from… We will probably run events like this again in the future.

If you are interested in having Business Headshots taken to improve your Social Media Profile… or would like to organise a fun photo session with a few of your friends… please give Andy a call on 0403 023 223, or Contact Us

Portrait Photos & Headshots for All Occasions

I’ve been asked recently to do more and more portrait photos and headshots… but a headshot is not just a headshot…

What is important when doing headshots is to determine what the planned purpose of the photo is…. a Corporate Headshot is very different to one you would use for your Facebook Profile, which again is probably different to the one on your website, on LinkedIn or on Tinder :)….

When I do headshots, I like to do a variety of poses and expressions… some more serious, for your corporate/business image… others more casual or fun for your social media profiles.

Here are some random headshots from some recent photoshoots….

Holi Headshots

I took nearly 1,000 shots at the Brisbane Holi Festival (organised by the Gujarati Association of Queensland and held at Sunnybank) – including nearly 200 headshots.

I loved these headshots because of the vibrant colours and the simple joy and fun that they show :

Headshot Mosaic – Chris – April 2013

As a part of the process of “warming up” and getting comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, I sometimes get models to start pulling some silly faces.

Studio Headshots – Chris – April 2013

Chris, a talented Thailand based model/actor/singer,  wanted a fresh look for his portfolio which currently has a has a very “High Fashion” feel to it.

The brief was to provide a more natural looking series of headshots … Here are a sample of photos from the shoot.

Headshot Tips – Getting the Jaw Right

Peter Hurley - NY Headshot Photographer

Although it may initially feel a little strange to the model, bringing their chin forward and down (or moving their forehead towards the camera) will usually dramatically improve the quality of the photo.

World renowned portrait photographer, Peter Hurley is  based in NYC and specializes in Actor’s Headshots, Fashion, Beauty, Corporate and Commercial portraiture.

In this video Peter highlights one of the fundamentals of a great headshot – getting the Jaw right.

In this video Peter expresses his philosophy of getting a great headshot, including:

  • how to choose a headshot photographer
  • what to wear during your shoot
  • and things you should know to prepare for your headshot session.

Here are some of Peter’s top tips :

  1. Choose a photographer who’s work you love
  2. Meet the photographer and make sure you like them (you have a rapport)
  3. Be prepared to listen and accept advice and suggestions
  4. Prepare for the shoot and make sure you are happy with your look (if not, DON’T do the shoot)
  5. Wear something that you LOVE
  6. Be expressive – don’t  be vanilla, but do be yourself
  7. Use your imagination and Have Fun !!

Headshots – Natasha – March 2013

Natasha was after some studio headshots with a Corporate/Business feel, but we also did some slightly more casual shots outside for a splash of green and a bit more warmth.
