Story Bridge 75 – People – Jul 2015

July 6th 2015 saw the 75th Birthday of the opening of Brisbane’s Story Bridge – and was celebrated by closing the bridge for the day and allowing 75,000 Brisbanites  the rare opportunity to to walk over it and enjoy food and entertainment.

The bridge was inundated with all types of people from all walks of life, and presented a fabulous opportunity for Street Photography… Here are some of my favourite “people” shots :

Story Bridge 75 – Food – Jul 2015

July 6th 2015 saw the 75th Birthday of the opening of Brisbane’s Story Bridge – and was celebrated by closing the bridge for the day and allowing 75,000 Brisbanites  to walk over it and enjoy food (from Eat Street markets) and entertainment (from Hit105 and a variety of live entertainment).

The food was definitely one of the features of the day with dozens of food stalls setup by Eat Street Market vendors… Here are some of my favourite “food” shots :

Story Bridge 75 – Infrastructure – Jul 2015

July 6th 2015 saw the 75th Birthday of the opening of Brisbane’s Story Bridge – and was celebrated by closing the bridge for the day and allowing 75,000 Brisbanites  the rare opportunity to to walk over it and enjoy food and entertainment.

It was also a rare opportunity for photographers to get architecture photos of the bridge from angles that would not normally be possible…. Here are some of my favourite “infrastructure” shots :

Wellington Point Sunrise – Mar 2015

I’ve been meaning to get down to Wellington Point again for a sunrise… but just hadn’t got around to it… Finally this  weekend I got a chance – and after a false start on Saturday morning (too many clouds)… Sunday turned out to be OK… Not the prettiest sunrise – but definitely worth the effort of getting up at 4:45 in the morning…

Indian Wedding – Feb 2015

Although I have done Wedding Photoshoots in the past (mostly for friends)…I normally avoid Wedding Photography like the plague.

However, in this instance, I was asked to help a friend cover an Indian Wedding for a young couple, as a second shooter (mostly for moral support really)… and I did actually (mostly) enjoy the shoot and got some shots I was pretty happy with…  Here is a selection of some of my favourites from the day…

Brisbane GIS Day – Oct 2014

I was invited to take photos for the Brisbane GIS Day.… part of the annual International GIS Day celebrations to promotes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its associated spatial technologie.

The Brisbane event (thanks largely to the efforts of GISPeople – and the Sponsors and Exhibnitiro they have encouraged to be involved) is the largest in the world.  It brings together people from throughout Australia – school kids, uni students, professionals, businesses and everyone in between – to showcase the exciting future of spatial technology.

Below are some of my favouyrite shots from the day : (I am also finalising some timelapses – so watch this space :))

Indian Bazaar – Oct 2014

I was invited to go along to this years Indian Bazaar – a celebration of all things Indian… song, music dance … and of course clothing and food…. Here are some of the highlights.

Garba Night 2014 (Brisbane)

I was invited along (by my good friend Reena) to photograph “Garba Night 2014” with Hemant Chauhan (an Internationally recognised India singer) ….

Garba is a high energy indian folk dance, performed in a circle , with rings of dancers circling around the Goddess Durga.  The dance represents the cycle of time – from birth, to life, to death and again to rebirth, with the Godddess (in the centre) being the only thing that is constant.

Pretty much everyone in India “grows up” doing this dance so it is a great favourite…and awesome to see so many of the kids now in Australia learning it too…

Here are some of my favourite shots from the night :

… oh…. and ion case you were wondering about the shoes… Pretty much everyone danced barefoot… so there were thousands of shoes lined up at the entrance …

Woody Point Sunset

Today I went along to a Brisbane Camera Club Meetup at Woody Point with plans to take some awesome sunset shots (and maybe some timelapses too).  After a day with loads of fabulous clouds, I was looking forward to a great sunset… However, on the drive out – the clouds promptly disappeared, so I was not expecting much of a sunset at all…

But, I did manage to do some timelapses, and ended up with a great series of Sunset Silhouettes which I am pretty happy with.

Here are some of my favourites of the day….

TimeLapse Video

The video below is a sequence of two TimeLapses taken at Woody Point (Brisbane) on a beautiful (but cloudless) Sunday.  Often the best sunsets occur when there are clouds around, but this timelapse shows the changing colours in the sky as the sun sets.

Gold Coast Q1 60th Floor – “The Ultimate”

Week 2 at Q1 and I am moving to a different apartment which they call “The Ultimate”….. I thought the first apartment was amazing… but this one is actually bigger and also has sweeping views of the beaches to the north and south and an open courtyard with views over the Gold Coast hinterland…. If the weather holds out, I am looking forward to lots of great slider/pan/tilt timelapse sunsets.

Here are some initial shots of “The Ultimate” :
